120th ANNIVERSARY

The Illinois State Beekeepers Association will be celebrating their 120th Anniversary at their annual Fall Meeting on November 12, 2011. The meeting location will be the Illinois Department of Agriculture Building located on the State Fairgrounds, Springfield, Illinois 62794. Registration will start at 8:00 am and the meeting will commence at 9:00 am. All attendees will receive a commemorative pin and the first 100 individuals/families will also receive a CD and book commemorating the history of the ISBA. The keynote speaker is Jennifer Berry, Apiculture Research Coordinator and Lab Manager at the University of Georgia. Jennifer was the 2006 President of the Eastern Apiculture Society and frequently writes articles published in Bee Culture. Additional speakers include Gene Killian, award winning beekeeper, retired Chief Apiary Inspector for the State of Illinois and author of Honey in the Comb; Phil and Tim May of May Honey Farm and producers of Sunny Hill Honey; Lee Heine, Past Chairman of the National Honey Board, Past President of the Wisconsin Honey Producers and the Wisconsin Dadant representative; Karen Lorence, author of the ISBA History and frequent contributor of articles published in the American Beekeeping Journal; and a representative of Dadant and Sons Inc., an Illinois Corporation and Americas oldest and largest manufacturer of beekeeping supplies.
